Korea positioned an import ban on German pork Saturday following an outbreak of extremely contagious foot-and-mouth (FMD) illness within the European nation, based on the agriculture ministry.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Meals and Rural Affairs stated the choice was made after Germany reported its first FMD case since 1988.
